French Radio Station Cancels Far-Right Interview

A French radio station that caters to Jewish listeners has decided to cancel an interview with French far-right leader Marine Le Pen after complaints by Jewish groups that her party was anti-Semitic. The radio station, called Radio J, had invited her to come on-air for the interview on the grounds that her National Front party has moved beyond marginal status in the polls and could win a first-round presidential vote.
The National Front is known to have an anti-immigrant position, and an editor for the station said that the interview was canceled after it could not ensure that it would take place in good conditions. The interview would have been a first for Radio J, which had declined to interview her father Jean-Marie Le Pen in the past because of public comments he made about Jews that caused outrage.
